Do rental motorcycles have an emergency call system?

Emergency call systems are still not standard on most motorcycles, and they are also not something you can normally expect on every rental motorcycle. Many motorcycles from other manufacturers do not have a built-in SOS or eCall system at all.

At MotoGS Rental Croatia, this is different because our rental fleet consists of BMW GS motorcycles. We order and equip our BMW GS rental motorcycles with the BMW SOS emergency call system, also known as BMW Intelligent Emergency Call or eCall. This is one of the important safety advantages of our BMW GS rental fleet.

The BMW SOS emergency call system is built into the motorcycle and can help riders get faster support after a serious accident or in an emergency situation. It is especially useful on longer motorcycle tours, remote roads, mountain routes, and cross-border rides where quickly sharing the exact location can make a real difference.

The system can trigger an emergency call automatically in the event of a crash, depending on the accident situation and system detection. It can also be activated manually from the handlebar if immediate help is needed.

In an emergency, the system can transmit the motorcycle’s location and connect the rider by voice with the international BMW call center, helping to coordinate assistance more quickly.

This is a valuable safety feature when riding through Croatia, the Adriatic region, the Balkans, Southern Europe, or more remote touring areas where road names, exact locations, or mobile phone orientation may not always be clear.

The BMW SOS emergency call system does not replace safe riding, responsible route planning, a charged mobile phone, local emergency numbers, personal travel insurance, or the normal motorcycle insurance coverage. It is an additional safety feature designed to support the rider in a critical situation.

Availability and function may depend on the country, mobile network coverage, BMW system availability, and the specific emergency situation. The system should therefore be seen as an important additional safety layer, not as a guarantee that every emergency can be handled automatically.
