To rent a motorcycle, you need to meet the basic rental requirements, present the required documents at pickup, and have a valid credit card for the security deposit. The exact documents may depend on your licence country, nationality, and planned motorcycle route.

At MotoGS Rental Croatia, the minimum requirements are clear: you must be at least 23 years old, have at least 3 years of motorcycle riding experience, and hold a valid Category A motorcycle licence or an equivalent full motorcycle licence for the motorcycle you want to rent.

You must also present a valid ID document. For EU citizens, this is usually a national ID card. For non-EU citizens, it is normally a passport. If your motorcycle licence was issued outside the EU or EEA, an International Driving Permit is strongly recommended and may be required for police checks, border crossings, insurance handling, or accident documentation.

A valid credit card is required for the EUR 2,000 security deposit. This amount is reserved on your credit card at pickup and released after return, provided there are no open claims, damage, missing equipment, unpaid fees, traffic fines, tolls, or other obligations under the rental agreement. Please check the details about rental deposit and credit card before your rental starts.

If your route includes approved border crossings, you must carry the required international travel and vehicle documents. Depending on your route, this may include your passport or national ID card, motorcycle licence, International Driving Permit, border crossing permit, International Insurance Card / Green Card, rental agreement, and vehicle registration documents.

MotoGS Rental Croatia prepares the required border and insurance documents for approved international routes and hands them over at pickup. You must still make sure that your personal documents, licence, passport or ID card, and any visa or entry requirements are valid for every country on your planned route.

Before pickup, choose your motorcycle, check availability, confirm the rental period, complete the required rental payment, and make sure your credit card limit is sufficient for the deposit.

For booking and planning, use these key pages:

At pickup, MotoGS Rental Croatia checks your documents, confirms the payment and deposit, completes the motorcycle handover, explains the included equipment, and provides the prepared rental documents. If required documents are missing, invalid, unclear, or do not show the required motorcycle entitlement, the motorcycle may not be handed over.

Motorcycle rentals are usually booked in advance, especially when you want a specific motorcycle model, fixed rental dates, and proper preparation before pickup. This is useful for local riders and especially important for international riders who travel from far away and need to plan flights, routes, documents, and handover times well in advance.

At MotoGS Rental Croatia, the standard way to book a motorcycle is through our online booking system. This gives you the clearest and most reliable overview before you travel. You can choose your preferred BMW GS rental motorcycle, enter your rental dates, compare the available motorcycles, and see immediately which bikes are available for your selected rental period.

The booking system also shows the important rental details before you confirm your reservation, including motorcycle equipment, included accessories, rental period, rental price, online payment options, rental deposit information, and the relevant rental terms. This gives you a clear overview before you make the booking.

During the booking process, you must confirm the key rental requirements: that you are at least 23 years old, that you hold the correct motorcycle licence for the selected motorcycle, that your credit card has sufficient capacity for the rental deposit, and that you have read and accepted the rental terms and conditions.

Depending on the booking setup, you can choose whether to pay a 30% advance payment or the full rental amount online. This online payment confirms your reservation and is separate from the rental deposit. The rental deposit itself is not paid during the online booking process; it is reserved on your credit card at motorcycle handover.

Credit card payments are processed securely via Stripe. MotoGS Rental Croatia does not receive or store your full credit card details. The payment process is handled by Stripe as an established online payment provider. Payment by PayPal, Google Pay and Apple Pay is also possible during checkout.

After the booking and payment are completed, the booking system automatically sends you a confirmation email. This email includes your reservation contract for the selected motorcycle and rental period. A printable version of the rental terms and conditions is also attached again for your records.

Before handover, we still verify your original motorcycle licence, your passport or national ID card, your credit card for the rental deposit, and, depending on the country that issued your licence, your International Driving Permit or an officially accepted translation.

If you plan to cross borders with the rental motorcycle, the required motorcycle documents are prepared by us and provided during handover. These include the vehicle registration documents, border-crossing permission, and the relevant insurance confirmation for the permitted countries.

Spontaneous same-day rentals may only be possible if a suitable or desired motorcycle is available and all documents, payment requirements, and deposit requirements can be verified. Our recommended and standard process is booking online in advance, so the motorcycle, paperwork, payment, and handover can be properly prepared.

Your motorcycle licence may be valid for renting a motorcycle in Europe, but it depends on where the licence was issued, whether it clearly shows the correct motorcycle category, and which countries you plan to ride through.

For motorcycle rental, the most important point is that your licence must clearly authorize you to ride the motorcycle category you want to rent. For MotoGS Rental Croatia, you need a valid Category A motorcycle licence or an equivalent full motorcycle licence recognized for your planned route.

If your motorcycle licence was issued in the EU or EEA, it is generally accepted for riding and renting motorcycles within the European Union, provided the correct motorcycle category is shown on the licence.

If your motorcycle licence was issued outside the EU or EEA, you should carry an International Driving Permit together with your original national motorcycle licence. The International Driving Permit is not a replacement for your licence; it is a translation document and must be presented together with the original licence.

This is especially important for riders from countries such as the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, South America, Asia, or other non-EU countries. Police checks, border crossings, insurance handling, and accident procedures can become difficult if your motorcycle entitlement is not clearly understood by local authorities.

At MotoGS Rental Croatia, the motorcycle is handed over in Croatia, but many customers ride through Croatia, the Adriatic region, the Balkans, Southern Europe, the Alps region, Italy, France, Switzerland, or other permitted countries. You must make sure your licence and travel documents are suitable for all countries on your planned route.

When you pick up the motorcycle, you must present your original motorcycle licence, your passport or national ID card, and—if applicable—your International Driving Permit. If your licence does not clearly show the required motorcycle category, the motorcycle may not be handed over.

Before travelling, check your licence category, issue country, expiry date, and whether you need an International Driving Permit for your route. For related information, please also see our FAQs about:

You may need an International Driving Permit when renting a motorcycle, especially if your motorcycle licence was issued outside the country or region where you plan to ride. The International Driving Permit helps local authorities, rental companies, insurers, and border officials understand your original driving licence.

An International Driving Permit is not a standalone driving licence. It is a translation document that must be carried together with your original national motorcycle licence. Without a valid motorcycle licence, an International Driving Permit does not give you the right to ride a motorcycle.

For motorcycle rental, the key requirement is always the motorcycle entitlement on your original licence. You must be legally allowed to ride the motorcycle category you want to rent. For large motorcycles such as BMW GS models, this normally means a full motorcycle licence, such as Category A in Europe or an equivalent full motorcycle endorsement in other countries.

If your licence was issued in the EU or EEA, an International Driving Permit is usually not required for riding within the European Union. If your licence was issued outside the EU or EEA, carrying an International Driving Permit is strongly recommended and may be required for police checks, border crossings, insurance handling, or accident documentation.

This is especially relevant for riders from the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, South America, Asia, or other countries where the licence format, language, or motorcycle category may not be immediately clear to local authorities. The International Driving Permit makes it easier to prove what your licence allows you to ride.

At MotoGS Rental Croatia, you must present your original motorcycle licence at pickup and, if applicable, your International Driving Permit. If your original licence does not clearly show a valid motorcycle entitlement, or if the required documents are missing, the motorcycle may not be handed over.

Before your motorcycle tour, check the rules for every country on your planned route and make sure your original licence, International Driving Permit, passport or ID card, and rental documents are valid and available. For related information, please also see our FAQs about:

For most online motorcycle rental bookings, payment is made directly through the booking portal using Stripe. Depending on your country, device, and card provider, Stripe may offer payment options such as credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or other locally available online payment methods.

At MotoGS Rental Croatia, the normal booking process is handled online. When you reserve your motorcycle through our booking system, you can pay the required amount directly during the reservation process. You can usually choose whether to pay the 30% booking deposit first or pay the full rental price immediately, depending on the available booking options.

If you pay only the 30% booking deposit when reserving the motorcycle, the remaining 70% of the rental price must be paid no later than at the time of motorcycle handover. The exact payment status and any remaining balance are shown in your booking confirmation, invoice, or individual rental documents.

Bank transfer is not part of the standard online booking process. It may only be possible after prior agreement and separate invoicing. If a bank transfer has been agreed individually, the payment must be received according to the invoice or written payment instructions before the motorcycle is handed over.

The rental payment is separate from the security deposit. The EUR 2,000 security deposit is not paid through the online booking portal. It is reserved separately on a valid credit card at pickup and is required to secure possible damage, missing equipment, late return, traffic fines, tolls, or other obligations under the motorcycle rental agreement.

Cash payments, prepaid cards, or payment methods not supported by Stripe may not be accepted for standard online bookings. For the security deposit, a valid credit card with sufficient available limit is normally required. Please check your booking confirmation carefully and contact us before pickup if you have an individually agreed payment arrangement.

Before your rental starts, make sure your rental payment is completed according to your booking documents and that your credit card is ready for the security deposit at pickup. For related details, please also see our FAQs about:
