Self-guided 3-5 Days Motorcycle Adventure Tour - Route Plitvice
The starting point of this route is our Meet & Greet Location in Trogir - Split, from where the roads take you north to the Plitvice Lakes National Park, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Croatia.
Why? In 1979, this national park was granted UNESCO World Heritage status. The lakes are an absolute must in Croatia. All 16 lakes are connected by a series of waterfalls and are surrounded by deep forests that are home to deer, bears, wolves, wild boars and rare bird species.
On your tour there you will get to know the higher and most beautiful winding roads in Croatia. You will be able to enjoy the view of the valleys and the sea.
Tour Info
On this day, this route takes you to an accommodation recommended by us in the town of Jezerce, the VILLA MUKINJA - Plitvice, not far from the national park.
The distance there is approx. 240 km. With 2 longer stops totalling 3 hours at “The eye of the Earth - Vrelo Cetine” and “Peruća Lake”, you will cover a total daily distance of approx. 7 to 8 hours.
The next morning you have the option of riding your motorcycle directly to the Plitvice national park parking spaces or you can use the shuttle service there to the national park. On the agenda for the day is a visit to the national park.
Now it is up to you how much you want to get to know about this wonderful and extraordinary landscape and nature with its diversity of animals. You have a whole day left to explore. Having good walking shoes with you is a sensible recommendation.
It is now entirely up to you whether you want to extend your stay at the national park by another day or not. Otherwise, the next morning the journey continues on the most winding mountain roads, back down into the valley to the coast, to the island of Krk.
The island of Krk is probably one of the most famous and most visited tourist islands in Croatia.
Your riding distance there is only 192 km and can be covered in around 4 to 5 hours if you ride comfortably. So when you arrive on the island and check in at another accommodation we recommend, the Heritage Hotel Forza - Baška, you have the rest of the day to explore the island in more detail.
You will love this island and the beaches.
The next morning, unless you want to extend your stay on the island of Krk, you head south again, along the well-known Jadranska Magistrala - D8
This coastal road is arguably one of the most exciting coastal roads in all of Southern Europe. An absolute must if you are riding in Croatia. Fantastic views of the Adriatic await you. The tour continues to Zadar, located directly on the Adriatic.
Your riding distance will be approximately 242 km. You have countless opportunities to stop along the way and enjoy the landscape and views.
Here too, the tour dates will take you directly to an accommodation recommended by us, the Hotel Delfin - Zadar.
On the last day of your trip, you continue south, back to the starting point. Of course, with a stopover in Skradin, located at the famous Krka waterfalls, Krka National Park. Since your daily distance on this day is only 179 km, you have enough time to visit the waterfalls on a boat tour.
The Krka National Park covers most of the river course and the riparian region of the Krka River of the same name, from the historic town of Knin, not far from its origin, to Skradin. In Skradin itself, the course of the Krka River turns into a long and deep Sea Bay.
Krka National Park was founded in 1955. As early as 1948, the park area was classified as a rare natural asset and an important area. Between 1985 and 1997 the area of the national park was expanded to a total of 109 km².
The biggest attraction of the national park are the seven waterfalls. The largest and most beautiful waterfalls are Skradinski buk and Roški slap. Along the Krka and the lakes, you can find many old fortress ruins, mills, and some monasteries. The Franciscan monastery on the island of Visovac deserves special mention. The approximately 1-hectare island was partly artificially built up. You can reach it with one of the numerous excursion boats that operate on the lake.
In the late afternoon or evening you will be back at the starting point or at the point where you started your journey.
